National Print Museum of Spain. El Puig (Valencia) Founded by Ricardo J. Vicent, with the collaboration of Vicent García Editores |
||
Located within the monastery, it is the first museum of its kind in Spain, and the second in importance in Europe, after the one in Mainz. The Print Museum reflects the importance of the Valencian Community in the introduction and later development of the printing press in our country and its subsequent cultural and economical growth. Within its halls, one can observe more than sixty printing presses, typographic moulds, handmade embossed engravings and unique facsimile editions, as well as a replica of the press which produced the first page of Tirant lo Blanc. There is also a reproduction of a printing press workshop from the 15th century in the Gutenberg Hall. |
