In the 15th century the free circulation of ideas, people and goods (books) seemed to predict the future of the European continent. The invention of printing was inevitable at the time. However, we have news of regulations on sources of income from books from a publishing contract with copyright clauses, signed for the first time in 1509 in Valencia. Printing multiplied the number of copies, and made knowledge and texts available to a greater number of people than handwritten texts. That is why master printers were allowed to set up in Spain and throughout Europe with exemptions from some taxes. |
