Synopsis: Werner Rolewynck (Laer, Westfalia, 1425 – Cologne, 1502) was a Cartujan monk in Cologne from the age of 22, having left an important an important amount of unpublished material, in which he shows his erudition. Theological, philosophical, homiletical, ascetic, exegetic, biographic and historical texts were penned by him. The work referred to, is in a certain way, a universal history that had from 1474 onwards an important number of editions. Among them, a Sevillian example dated 1480, as the only known work from the workshop of Bartolomé Segura and Alfonso del Puerto. In this edition, it can be seen beside the main text, an extract of texts from Diogenes Laertius titled Auctoritates de vita et moribus philosophorum.
